My current project that I’m going to be working on is called “Phone to Desktop” and it’s an app for Android, that will have a partner application for Windows (and hopefully other platforms in the future). The concept of the app is that whenever you receive a text message and you’re on the same network as the computer with the partner application installed, it will send a popup to that desktop with the option to respond right from the computer. There will of course be security measures in place such as pairing. This of course requires a direct network connection between the phone and the computer. Another option I’ve considered to implement this idea is to have a “control” server which relays messages. This would of course have the same security measures as the first option. But I’m not exactly sure how people will take to having text messages relayed through a third party server. There is another huge benefit to using a third party server is that messages can be relayed even if the phone and computer are not on the same network.
I thought about this idea a while ago and decided not to pursue it and wait to see if something similar would be developed, but I haven’t seen anything yet, so I’m going to pursue this project, and I’m excited to get started on it! I would love to hear anyone’s ideas on this and suggestions for it!
